Minor League Player of the Year, Demoted

The St. Louis Cardinals sent Travis Hanson, the organization's 2005 Minor League Player of the Year, back down to Double-A Springfield on Wednesday in order to help the promising infielder to regain his confidence and the form that contributed to his success last season.

Third baseman Travis Hanson, a member of the St. Louis Cardinals 40-man roster was demoted from Triple-A Memphis yesterday to Double-A Springfield. The Cardinals 2005 Minor League Player of the Year was hitting just .220 this season with just one home run and 18 RBI, a far cry from the .284 with 20 home runs and 97 RBI from him last season.
