As I said in another thread, the only hope for this offense right now, minus a trade, is Taveras. He didn't do much his first time around but now that he's got his feet wet maybe he can energize the club a little.
I keep thinking that our hitters are going to finally catch fire. Been waiting over half the year though so who knows.
Bringing Taveras is a good start...dropping the 13th pitcher another good step. Maybe one of these days they will cut Robinson and Descalso. Loyalty is good up to a point. I know it won't happen but that bench is brutal.
Hopefully today is a day of changes. There was no post game yesterday, Matheny never showed up. Mo gave an interview today laying some things out. Changes need to be made and people need to start being responsible for their performance.

Could not have said it better myself. People need to be held accountable starting right now. Moz for his horrible off season. Matheny for his numerous bone headed ideas and mostly the players for their emotionless and totally uninspired play. Honestly if something is not done soon this season will be lost. I think we all know they have not fielded the best team they can all season and telling the fans they are doing the best they can is starting to wear very thin. The Jig is up. When the best hitter you have on the bench is a starting pitcher then something is seriously wrong. I am sure Matheny doesn't want to embarrass anyone but i would let Wainwright hit in some situations. He couldn't possibly be any worse than Robinson or Descalso. Mozeliak has two choices now. Attempt to get some players in here or pack it in for the year and become sellers at the deadline. We are standing at the cross roads right now folks.

I have fought this idea all along, at least about Descalso b/c i think he brings things that cannot be measured on a stat sheet. However i can no longer defend his spot on this team. His numbers are so bad at this point your average fan has to be looking at his line and thinking "what the heck is going on here. I believe since the start of 2013 D-Day is the worst hitter in all of baseball and his defense is tragic. He and Shane would be a welcome addition in Memphis though. They have to pay Ellis regardless so a release makes no sense. I would try and move him for a reliever, a prospect or a case of seeds. These guys are not part of the solution but rather a big part of the problem.

WONG HAS BRUISED SHOULDER
Cardinals infielder Kolten Wong was prescribed inactivity for several days after receiving an anti-inflammatory injection in his left shoulder. An MRI had shown swelling and irritation within the shoulder and what a team official described as a bruise near the cuff. Wong injured the shoulder earlier this month and attempted to play through the soreness but eventually surrendered to it because he couldn’t complete his swings. Matheny said the MRI did not show any structural damage beyond the bruising. The Cardinals intend to re-evaluate his status when they return from this road trip.
