Selected in the second round (54th overall) of the June, 2006 First-Year Player Draft. Received a $600,000 signing bonus.
2008 Season
Furnish actually pitched better at Springfield, after getting a promotion that was questioned at the time from Palm Beach. Prior to his promotion to Double-A, Furnish had posted a lackluster record of 8-8 with a 5.17 ERA, after 25 games including 20 starts, 115.0 innings pitch. At Springfield he went 1-1 with a 1.64 ERA in four games, four starts. Brad played in the AFL at the conclusion of the 08 season.
2007 Season
Split the season between Quad Cities and Palm Beach, playing the final eight games of the season in Florida. In eight games for Palm Beach, he kept opposing batters to a .237 batting average. Required ulnar nerve transposition surgery following the season.
2006 Season
Furnish made 15 starts for short-season Class A State College, going 3-6 with a 3.94 ERA, allowing 65 hits, striking out 68 and walking 19 in 75.1 innings. Opponents hit .234 against him.
Career Notes
He has a record of 9-12 with a 3.49 ERA through his first two seasons of professional ball. He's appeared in 44 games before the 2008 season, including 32 starts. In 2006 his 15 starts tied for the most in the New-York Penn League with four others. He tossed a no-hitter for Texas Christian University, the 8th in school history, the first since 2001.
