2008 Season
Scout.com's GCL Cardinals reliever of the year split playing time between the GCL and Johnson City. In nine games for the GCL Cardinals, Carpenter allowed only one earned run on six hits. He would tie for the team in saves, three, even though he was promoted to Johnson City in August. In six games at JC, Carpenter didn't get a decision or a save, finishing with a 3.00 ERA after six innings pitched. He strikeout to walk ratio was very good at JC, walking just one batter, while striking out eight.
2007 Season
Was set to begin 2007 w/ QC before a broken hand in Spring Training sidelined him for 3 months; Hit .221-1-8 with 9-2B in 38 G w/ Batavia (NY-P)
Career Notes
In 2008 Carpenter made the transition from catcher to pitcher, splitting playing time between the GCL Cardinals and Johnson City Cardinals.
David was an all Big East selection as a catcher for the West Virginia University Mountaineers. He committed just two errors in 182 total chances for a .989 fielding percentage behind the plate at State
College in 06.
