2007 Season
Ryan split playing time between St. Louis and Memphis, playing a solid 67-game stint with St. Louis in his rookie season, hitting .289 with four home runs, 12 RBI, and 30 runs scored.
Career Notes
Added to the 40-man roster over the offseason, Ryan tore a ligament in his left wrist in spring training. He began the 2006 season on Springfield's disabled list, but when he returned in July he was sent on a rehab assignment to short-season Class A State College and then high Class A Palm Beach. He rejoined Springfield in late August, but was promoted to Triple-A Memphis after just 10 games. In 28 games total between the four stops, Ryan hit .265/.302/.308.
Following the season, he was sent to play for the Peoria Saguaros in the Arizona Fall League. He hit .310/.350/.421 and led the league in hits (39) and at-bats (126).
Ryan began his career with short-season Class A New Jersey after being drafted in 2003 and moved on to low Class A Peoria in 2004, where he won the Midwest League batting title (.322). He began the 2005 season with high Class A Palm Beach and spent nearly a month (May 17-June 14) on the disabled list with a left hamstring strain. Promoted to Double-A Springfield in July, he combined to hit .289/.349/.395 with 14 stolen bases between the two levels. He is a career .303 hitter with 59 steals in 278 career minor league games.
