Selected in the second round (74th overall) of the June, 2006 First-Year Player Draft. Received a $480,000 signing bonus.
2008 Season
Jay had a great season going in the books before a sore shoulder cut his season short. He hit .345 in 16 games at Memphis, splitting playing time between the Triple-A club and Springfield. On the season, he finished with a combined, .312 batting average with 12 home runs and 57 RBIs.
2007 Season
Jay made three trips to the DL in 07, two times for his shoulder and the other time for a wrist injury. In just 26 games for Double-A Springfield, Jay hit .235 with two home runs and 11 RBI. He started the season with Palm Beach, playing in 32 games and played a game for the Gulf Coast League Cardinals.
2006 Season
Jay hit .342/.416/.462 with three home runs and 45 RBI in 60 games for low Class A Quad Cities. He also stole nine bases in 13 attempts and walked more than he struck out (28/27).
