Selected by the St. Louis Cardinals in the eighth round (245th overall), of the 2008 First Year Player Draft.

2008 Season
Kulik made his first two professional appearances in the New York-Penn League, both out of the bullpen for the Batavia Muckdogs. He threw a combined six innings and allowed just one unearned run on three hits, while strikin out five and issuing no walks. At Quad Cities, Ryan went 5-5 with a bloated 5.53 ERA after 12 appearances, 12 starts. Opposing batters hit a robust .352 against him in the Midwest League.

2007 Season
Pitched in the Cape Cod League, posting a record of 1-3 with a 6.26 ERA with 16 strikeouts in 27 innings.

Career Notes
Finished his senior season at Rowan University with a 10-2 record and a 1.72 ERA. Kulik finished first in Division III in strikeouts, (144) and strikeours per nine innings, (13.74).
