Drafted in the 41st round of the 2008 First-Year Player Draft from Palm Beach Community College. Signed on or about June 18, 2008 and was assigned to the Gulf Coast League Cardinals.

2008 Season
He led pitchers with more than ten innings off the mound for the GCL Cardinals with a 1.38 ERA. In 13 innings, he gave up just three hits, while walking three hitters and striking out 11, for a very impressive .046 WHIP. Batters hit just .070 off of Kevin in 2008. A promising youny left-hander middle reliever or swing guy.
