Became a Cardinal
Selected in the seventh round (226th overall) of the June, 2006 First-Year Player Draft. Received a $60,000 signing bonus.

2008 Season
After a slow start at Double-A with the Springfield Cardinals and an experiment as the team's DH, Gorsett was sent back to the Palm Beach Cardinals. At the plate with Springfield, Gorsett hit just .207 in 25 games and 87 at-bats. He hit only .229 for Palm Beach, playing in 75 games in the FSL, with 258 at-bats. Looking at his last 10 games for some signs of improvement, he hit only .176 (6-for-34), to close out the 2008 campaign.

Career Notes
Played winter ball at the end of the 2007 in Nicaragua to improve his hitting skills. He played well enough to start the 2008 season at Double-A.
