Selected in the eighth round (245th overall) of the June, 2003 First-Year Player Draft. Received a $105,000 signing bonus.
2008 Season
Matt split playing time between Springfield and Memphis, with the bulk of his time (68 games) spent with the Double-A club. He hit .236 (51-for-216) for Springfield with three home runs and 19 RBIs. In three games and five at-bats for Memphis, he hit .200 (1-for-5), with his only hit being an RBI double. Matt started the season on the DL, apparently for minor injuries, because the reason was never published.
2007 Season
Pagnozzi split playing time between Springfield and Memphis, where he hit .217 with two home runs and 12 RBIs in a combined 60 games between the two levels. Matt also received an invitation to the 2008 St. Louis Cardinals spring training camp.
Career Notes
Not known for his offense, Pagnozzi has hit .199 with five home runs in 286 games since being drafted by the Cardinals in 2003.
