Selected in the fifth round (170th overall) of the June, 2005 First-Year Player Draft. Received a $150,000 signing bonus.
2008 Season
Boggs picked up a win in his major league debut, but after two stints with St. Louis, Boggs posted a 3-2 record with a 7.41 ERA, in eight games, including six starts. At Triple-A Memphis he fared much better, posting a record of 9-3 with a 3.45 ERA. Boggs will likely see more playing time in St. Louis in 2009.
2007 Season
Boggs help lead the Double-A Springfield Cardinals to a Texas League Northern Division Championship with a 11-7 record and a 3.84 ERA. The ironman Boggs did not miss a turn in a season in which he ranked second in the Texas League with 117 strikeouts, tied for fifth with 11 wins and 26 starts and 9th in ERA (3.84). Named the Scout.com Springfield Cardinals "Pitcher of the Year" at the end of the season.
Career Notes
Boggs made 27 starts for high Class A Palm Beach in 2006, going 10-6 with a 3.41 ERA. He allowed 153 hits, struck out 126 and walked 51 in 145 innings.
In 2005, Boggs appeared in 15 games, 14 of which were starts, for short-season Class A New Jersey. He went 4-4 with a 3.89 ERA, allowing 77 hits, striking out 61 and walking 24 in 71-2/3 innings.
