Biography:
Became a Cardinal
Signed to a minor league contract on February 26. 2008.

Current Contract
A minor league deal, was on loan to the Mexican League to begin the 2008 season before joining the Springfield Cardinals on April 10th.

2007 Season
At Double-A Birmingham in 2007, the 6-foot-5 right-hander posted a 2-2 record with a 5.79 ERA. The 25-year-old informed the White Sox in July that he wished to retire.

Career Notes
The Chicago White Sox selected him with the 16th overall pick of the 2001 draft. A native of the Chicago suburb of Kankakee, Honel had reached Double-A by the time he was 20. Then injuries began to slow down his progress and cost him most of the 2004 season. He eventually required Tommy John surgery that cost him the entire 2006 season. Before injuries, Honel possessed a fastball that could reach the mid-nineties, a knuckle curveball, and a changeup to go along with excellent command.
