**40-Man Roster**
Became a Cardinal
Claimed off waivers from the Arizona Diamondbacks on August 13, 2007.
2008 Season
Barden served as a utility infielder in St. Louis when the rosters expanded in September, playing in only nine games and getting just nine at-bats. He played very well for Memphis, hitting .285, 9 HRs, 35 RBIs, while scoring 60 runs. It's possible that Barden could compete for a utility role with the Cardinals or return to Memphis in 2009.
2007 Season
Barden spent most of 2007 playing for Arizona's Triple-A club, but the Cardinals claimed him off waivers in August and he served as a utility infielder for St. Louis playing in 15 games September, hitting just .217/.280/.261.
Career Notes
A sixth round draft pick of the Diamondbacks in 2002, Barden has a career .297 average, 55 home runs and 393 RBI in his six years in Arizona’s minor league system.
