Became a Cardinal
Selected in the fourth round of the June, 2006 First-Year Player Draft. Received a $100,000 signing bonus.

2008 Season
Degerman had one solid month, June, when he appeared in six games, including one start, finishing with a 2.25 ERA for the month. On the season, Eddie went 3-1 with a 5.96 ERA, after appearing in 24 games, including five starts. Eddie closed out the season, going 1-1 with a 7.23 ERA in his final 10 appearances, walking 12 batters, while striking out 14.

Career Notes
In 2006, his final season in college baseball, Degerman went 13-2 with a 2.00 ERA in 20 games (19 starts), while striking out a Conference USA record 172 batters, for the 57-13 Rice University Owls. Was one of the four finalists for the Clemens Award, the "Cy Young Award of College Baseball".

Eddie was selected by the Boston Red Sox in the 41st round (1,245 overall) of the June 2005 First-Year Player Draft, but opted to continue at Rice University.
