Became a Cardinal
Selected in the eighth round (256th overall) of the June, 2006 First-Year Player Draft. Received a $15,000 signing bonus.
2008 Season
Lower back pain that landed Texas League All-Star, Craig, on the DL in August was the only blemish on a very productive season by the third baseman. He finished the season hitting .304 with a team leading 22 home runs and 85 RBIs, playing in 129 games for the Double-A Cardinals. He also led the Springfield club with 154 hits, 30 doubles, 84 runs scored, 250 total bases and 40 walks, while playing better defense at third than some had expected.
2007 Season
Played 112 games for the Palm Beach Cardinals, hitting .312 with 21 HRs and 77 RBI before getting a well deserved promotion to Double-A Springfield, where he played in seven games to wrap up the 07 season.
Allen Craig put on a show all season long while he was at Palm Beach. He set new club records for runs (77), batting average (.312), RBI's (77), total bases (224), slugging percentage (.530) and tied for the most home runs with 21.
He finished second in the Florida State League with 224 total bases and third with a .312 batting average.
Craig was the Most Valuable Player in the Florida State League All-Star Game, going 2-for-4 with a two-run homer in the 5th inning of the 8-4 win by his East squad.
Selected as the Cardinals Minor League Player of the Month for June.
2006 Season
Craig hit .257/.325/.400 with four home runs and 29 RBI for short-season Class A State College and was selected to the New York-Penn League All-Star game. On August 13, Craig partially tore the patella tendon in his knee and was shut down for the season on August 23.
