Became a Cardinal
Selected in the ninth round (290th overall) of the June, 2005 First-Year Player Draft. Received a $50,000 signing bonus.

2007 Season
Appeared in only five games for the Palm Beach Cardinals before being promoted to Double-A Springfield. He finished the season with a combined record of 4-0 with a 2.70 ERA, in 42 games, 50 innings pitched.

Career Notes
Spending the entire 2006 season with high Class A Palm Beach, Zuercher made 43 appearances out of the bullpen, going 6-2 with a 4.12 ERA, allowing 68 hits, striking out 47 and walking 14 in 59 innings. Opponents hit .294 against him.

In 2005, Zuercher made 16 appearances, 14 of which were starts, for short-season Class A New Jersey, going 5-7 with a 3.73 ERA, allowing 66 hits, striking out 63 and walking 25 in 82 innings.
