Became a Cardinal:
Signed as a non-drafted free agent in July, 2006.

2006 Season:
Gonzalez appeared in seven games with Rookie-level Johnson City after signing, going 3-0 with a 0.73 ERA, allowing three hits, striking out 14 and walking three in 12.1 innings. He was named the Appalachian League Pitcher of the Week for the period July 17-23. On July 27, he was promoted to short-season Class A State College. With the Spikes, he posted an ERA of 4.63 in 11 games. Combined between the two levels, opponents hit .131 against him in 24 innings.
