Selected in the 17th round (530th overall) of the June, 2005 First-Year Player Draft.

2006 Season:
Cooper missed the entire 2006 season due to right shoulder surgery.

Career Notes:
In 2005, Cooper posted a 1.17 ERA, allowing 11 hits, striking out 18 and walking six in 21 innings for short-season Class A New Jersey before being promoted to low Class A Quad Cities on July 13. He made 10 starts for the Swing, going 1-4 with a 6.70 ERA, allowing 58 hits, striking out 31 and walking 19 in 48-1/3 innings. He was placed on the disabled list on September 4, with shoulder inflammation and missed the rest of the season.
