Signed as a non-drafted free agent on June 20, 2005.

2006 Season:
Wilkerson began the season with low Class A Quad Cities, but after hitting .230 in 30 games he was transferred to extended spring training in late May. He joined short-season Class A State College at the start of their season in June and hit .228 with seven home runs and 29 RBI in 53 games.

Career Notes:
Wilkerson hit .239 with eight home runs in 45 games for short-season Class A New Jersey in 2005.
