Became a Cardinal:
Selected in the eighth round of the June, 2005 First-Year Player Draft.

2006 Season:
Cairns made 43 appearances for low Class A Quad Cities, posting a 3.21 ERA, allowing 64 hits, striking out 43 and walking 23 in 61.2 innings.

Career Notes:
Cairns made his professional debut with the short-season A New Jersey Cardinals in June 2005. After only two appearances he was promoted to low Class A Quad Cities, and became the first pitcher out of the 2005 draft class to reach full season ball. Overall, Cairns went 0-3 with 8 saves, a 2.43 ERA and 1.41 WHIP in 37 innings over 24 games. He allowed 33 hits and 19 walks while striking out 18.
