Selected in the third round (90th overall) of the June, 2004 First-Year Player Draft. Received a $422,500 signing bonus.
2006 Season:
Haberer began the season with high Class A Palm Beach. In 17 appearances (16 starts), He went 4-7 with a 3.83 ERA, allowing 95 hits, striking out 64 and walking 28 in 98.2 innings. On July 7, he was promoted to Double-A Springfield where he made 11 starts, posting a 5.43 ERA, striking out 37 and walking 34 in 61.1 innings.
Following the season, the Cardinals selected Haberer to play in the Arizona Fall League. He posted a 4.50 ERA, striking out six and walking seven in 10 innings for the Peoria Saguaros.
Career Notes:
Haberer made nine starts for Rookie-level Johnson City after being drafted in 2004, going 2-2 with a 4.69 ERA in 40-1/3 innings. He was promoted to short-season Class A New Jersey in August and made three starts, posting a 2.37 ERA in 19 innings.
In 2005, Haberer began the season making nine starts for low Class A Quad Cities, going 4-2 with a 2.11 ERA in 55-1/3 innings. He was selected to participate in the Midwest League All-Star game, but was unable to attend due to his promotion to high Class A Palm Beach on May 27. In 17 starts for Palm Beach, he went 8-6 with a 3.71 ER in 94.2 innings.
