Current Contract:
Signed through 2006.

Became a Cardinal:
Selected from the Texas Rangers in the Triple-A portion on the 2004 Rule-5 Draft.

2005 Season:
Garcia spent the entire season with high Class A Palm Beach where he made 30 appearances, 20 of which were starts. He posted a 4.35 ERA, allowing 147 hits, striking out 122 and walking 41 in 134-1/3 innings.

Career Notes:
Garcia was originally signed out of Venezuela by the Yankees at the age of 17 in 1999. He went 18-13 with a 2.36 ERA in 48 appearances, 36 of which were starts, over four seasons in the Yankees system which includes one season in the Venezuelan Summer League and two seasons in the Dominican Summer League. But then, after the 2003 season, Yankees third baseman Aaron Boone blew out his knee playing a pick-up game of basketball. A few days later, after top third base prospect Drew Henson elected to pursue an NFL career, the Yankees traded Garcia, their 20th best prospect According to Baseball America, to the Texas Rangers for Mike Lamb. Shortly after that is when the Yankees acquired Alex Rodriguez in another deal.
