2005 Season:
Artiles began the season at high Class A Tampa, posting a 7.71 ERA in nine appearances. He spent most of the season at Double-A Trenton, where he posted a 3.55 ERA in 32 appearances, striking out 37 and walking 29 in 45-2/3 innings. He also appeared in two games for Triple-A Columbus.
Career Notes:
Artiles was signed by the Yankees as a non-drafted free agent out of the Dominican Republic in 1997. He spent the first eight years of his career in the Yankees organization before signing with the Cardinals for the 2006 season. In 191 career minor league appearances, he has a 3.49 ERA, striking out 347 and walking 209 in 335-1/3 innings.
