Career Stats

Current Contract:
Signed through 2006.

Became a Cardinal:
Selected in the 3rd round of the June, 1998 First-Year Player Draft. Received a $220,000 signing bonus.

2005 Season:
After making a permanent move back to catcher in 2005, Johnson broke his knee in early April, sliding into a dugout attempting to make a catch. The injury required surgery and kept him out until July 22. After that, he played primarily first base for the remainder of the season. In 51 games for Springfield, Johnson hit .251 with seven home runs and 31 RBI. He returned to catching in the Arizona Fall League. He hit only .154 in 14 games for the Surprise Scorpions.

Career Notes:
Drafted as a catcher, Johnson was moved to third base in 2001 before returning to catching in 2005. Gabe played in the Arizona Fall League in both 2004 and 2005. He is a career .228 hitter with 83 home runs in 691 career minor league games.
