Became a Cardinal:
Selected in the Triple-A phase of the Rule 5 draft on December 16, 2002.
2005 Season:
Cavazos split the 2005 season between high Class A Palm Beach and Double-A Springfield. He began the season with Springfield but was sent down to Palm beach on May 1, before earning his promotion back to Springfield on July 24. He had a 4.03 ERA in 23 appearances out of the Springfield bullpen, striking out 24 and walking seven. For Palm Beach, he had a 3.41 ERA in 38 appearances, striking out 43 and walking seven in 31-1/3 innings. He posted a 5.40 ERA in nine appearances for the Surprise Scorpions of the Arizona Fall League.
Career Notes:
A fifth round pick of the Texas Rangers in 1999, Cavazos participated in the Arizona Fall League in both 2004 and 2005. Has a 4.59 ERA in 225 career minor league appearances.
