2005 Season:
Spent the entire season at Triple-A Omaha after being traded to Kansas City during the offseason. Went 9-8 with a 4.24 ERA in 136 innings, striking out 104 and walking 59. He appeared in 32 games, 23 of which were starts.
Career Notes:
A 38th round draft pick of the Boston Red Sox in 1998, Tankersley was sent to San Diego in 2000 along with Cesar Saba for Ed Sprague. He was traded again in November, 2004 when the Padres sent him to Kansas City along with Terrence Long and cash for Ryan Bukvich and Darrell May.
Tankersley was named the Padres Minor League Pitcher of the Year in 2001 after going 10-4 with a combined 1.98 ERA in 25 games. In 2002, he was ranked by Baseball America as the No. 2 prospect in the Padres organization, ahead of Jake Peavy, Xavier Nady and Oliver Perez. He is 51-39 with a 3.40 ERA and 836 strikeouts in 822-1/3 career minor league innings. Dennis has appeared in 27 major league games - all with the San Diego Padres.
