Biography:
BECAME A CARDINAL: Selected in the 21st round of the June 1999 free-agent draft.

CONTRACT STATUS: Signed through the 2005 season. Was a non-roster invitee to spring training.

2004 SEASON - Spent most of the season at Double-A Tennessee, making 17 starts for the Smokies going 5-1 with a 3.44 ERA.

Was selected to the Southern League All-Star team in July but missed the game due to injury.

Placed on the DL 6/20 with a broken finger in his left hand remaining on the DL until 8/16.

Won his first game on 4/20 vs. Birmingham pitching 6.1 innings with five strikeouts. Struck out a season-high eight batters just two starts later (4/30 at Montgomery) for his second win of the season - 7.0 IP, 4H, 2ER.

Pitched his final game of the season at Memphis (AAA) on 9/3 vs. Nashville. Went 6.0 innings and gave up seven runs, three earned with one walk and five strikeouts.

Started 12 games (14 apps.) for Zulia of the Venezuelan Winter League. Ranked first among league leaders with 64 K’s and was tied for first with seven wins (7-3). His 3.25 ERA ranked fifth among all hurlers while his 63.2 IP ranked fourth.

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS: 1999 – Made his pro debut with Single-A New Jersey on 6/21...started 14 games for the Cardinals earning decisions in 12 of those starts (6-6) as opponents batted .270 against him with a 3.60 ERA...struck out nine batters in a win 7/8 vs. Staten Island and threw a season high 8.0 innings for the win 8/8 at Pittsfield...earned the organization’s Pitcher-of-the-Month honors for July after starting six games with a 3-2 record, 2.41 ERA and 33 strikeouts...won back-to-back starts to end the season 8/24 and 8/29.

2000 – Missed the majority of the season with a strained right shoulder...made just three starts for Peoria (A) before landing on the DL for the remainder of the season.

2001 – Began the season on the disabled list with a strained right elbow, coming off the DL on 5/5...made his first start on 5/6 for Peoria (A)...made 18 starts for the Chiefs compiling a 4-6 record...his last win for Peoria came on 8/4 when he went 6.0 innings allowing no runs on two hits with seven strikeouts...earned a late-season promotion to Potomac (A) where he made four starts.

2002 – Opened the season with Potomac (A) making 14 starts before a mid-season promotion to Double-A New Haven where he also started 14 games...while with the Cannons struck out 86 batters in 81.2 IP with just 21 walks...earned his first win at New Haven in his fifth start on 7/13 vs. Portland...went 6.0 innings in that game allowing two runs with seven K’s...was a perfect 4-0 at home with a 2.45 ERA with New Haven.

2003 – Led the Cards minor league system with 15 wins and was third with 162.0 IP...began the year with Tennessee (AA) and was promoted to Triple-A Memphis on 6/30...went 8-6 with the Smokies including a 3-2 record in June with a 1.95 ERA, allowing only seven earned runs in 32.1 IP...had two three-game winning streaks with the Triple-A club...won his last three starts allowing five earned runs over 18.1 IP.

MISC: Graduated from South Charleston High in 1995 where he played both baseball and basketball...was an All-State selection in baseball two years...attended West Virginia University where he was named 2nd Team All-Big East in 1999...resides in Richmond, Virginia.
