Biography:
BECAME A CARDINAL: Signed as a minor league free agent January 12, 2005. Signed through the 2005 season.

CONTRACT STATUS: Signed through 2005.

CAREER NOTES: 2004 - Started the season at Triple-A Norfolk, where he batted .262 (17-65) and hit in 14-of-18 games before being released on 5/17 by the Mets.

Was signed by Cleveland on 5/20 as a minor league free agent and assigned to Triple-A Buffalo.

Hit safely in five of his first six games with Buffalo (.346, 9-26) with a HR and six RBI.

Had contract purchased by Indians on 6/15 and went 1-for-11 (.091) in seven games (two starts, both in RF). His only hit came in a 1-for-3 outing on 6/18 at ATL.

Returned to Buffalo for the remainder of his season on 7/2.

Appeared in 23 games with Santurce in the Puerto Rican Winter League, batting .265 (22-83) with six 2Bs and five RBI. He led the team with four stolen bases.

2003 - Began the year with Norfolk (AAA)...had his contract purchased by Mets on 4/23...optioned back to Norfolk on 6/10...recalled on 6/28 and stayed with the Mets the remainder of the season...hit a solo HR in his first at-bat of the season 4/23 vs. HOU off Roy Oswalt...he became the first Met to hit a HR in his first at-bat of the season since Joe McEwing on 4/4/02 vs. PIT...played in 45 games in LF (15 starts), 25 games in CF (13 starts) and 40 games in RF (17 starts) for the Mets.

Played for San Juan in the Puerto Rican Winter League and was named the All- Star Game’s MVP as he hit two HRs and drove in six as Puerto Rico topped the Dominican Republic 14-7.

2002 – Was named the International League’s Most Valuable Player...also selected the TOPPS International League Player of the Year...represented Louisville at the Triple-A All-Star Game.

MISC: Graduated from Gilberto Concepcion High School in 1991 in Carolina, Puerto Rico...as a youngster, he toured Spain, South America and France while playing with the Raiders, an amatuer baseball team from Carolina, Puerto Rico...has a daughter, Hailey (5/7/9
