Career Stats

Current Contract:
Contract renewable through 2008.

Became a Cardinal:
Signed as a non-drafted free agent on June 6, 2002.

2005 Season:
In 99 games with low Class A Quad cities, Lucena hit .301/.329/.349 in 332 at-bats, stealing nine bases in 14 attempts. He drew only 12 walks, but struck out just 11 times.

Career Notes:
Lucena played in the Venezuelan Summer League in 2002 and the Dominican Summer League in 2003. In 2004 he advanced to Rookie-level Johnson City and won the Appalachian League’s batting title with a .332 batting average.
