Biography:
BECAME A CARDINAL: Selected in the 33rd round of the June 1999 free agent draft.

CONTRACT STATUS: Hart is due a new contract, he signed a one year deal last march.

2005 OUTLOOK: Bo Hart was the great feel good story for baseball fans of 2003. The 27-year old minor leaguer was called up by the Cardinals to be in the everyday major-league lineup, because of a rash of injuries and set the world on fire the first half of the season, before Cardinal coaches and media convinced him he wasn't an everyday player. Hart came back to earth finished the season hitting .277 with 4 HR and 28 RBI.

A real fan favorite Hart is a gutty player,in the tradition of Rex Hudler, who won't kill you at the plate but won't win many games for you either. He can play a nice second but with Hector Luna and John Mabry in the mix, Hart won't get the chance to play shortstop or third as a utility player, meaning being limited to just one position, Hart may find himself again at AAA for most of the 2005 season.

2004 SEASON: Was everyday second baseman for Memphis (AAA), batting .297 with a career-high 25 doubles and 81 runs scored.

Began the season at Memphis, then was recalled by the Cardinals on 4/11, appearing in 11 games (3 starts) before returning to Memphis on 5/1 for the remainder of the season.

Batted .302 in June, .291 in July and .342 in August, raising his BA 42 points from 6/1 (.255) to season-ending .297.

Appeared in 97 games at 2B and 21 games at SS for Memphis. His final 17 games played were all at shortstop.

Had a season-best 11-game hitting streak 7/6-19 that included seven multi-hit games. Had multiple hits in five-straight games 8/26-30, batting .423 (11-26).

Went 5-for-5 with three doubles on 8/22 vs. Omaha. His longest hitless streak at Memphis was just three games.

MISC: Was born in Creswell, Oregon and graduated in1995 from Soquel (Calif.) High School where he was captain of the baseball team and was named All-County...he also lettered in basketball...attended Gonzaga University, where he earned All-West Coast Conference honors as a shortstop...was named to Honorable Mention list for Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American Team in 1988...he was scouted and signed by Dane Walker...makes his off-season home in Phoenix, Ariz...took part in a multitude of Community Relations events in 2003, including the “Say No to Drugs” program and fundraising telethon for Children’s Hospital.
