Biography:
Became a Cardinal Selected in the 4th round of the June 1999 free-agent draft.

Contract Status Signed through the 2005 season.

2005 Outlook Will try to get his career back on track pitching out of the bullpen for the AAA Memphis Redbirds.

2004 Season His season was quickly haulted on 4/16 when he went down with right shoulder tendinitis after having appeared in just four games. His final game appearance came 4/15 vs. Colorado Springs when he fanned two in 1.0 IP.

Earned a save in his season debut 4/9 vs. Albuquerque. Five of the eight outs he recorded on the year were by K’s.

Underwent shoulder surgery on May 17 for labrul debribement and missed the remainder of the season.

MISC MISC: Graduated in 1996 from North High School in Springfield, Ohio...participated in baseball and basketball in high school and was an All-Area selection in baseball...attended the University of Illinois where he was a two-time All Big Ten and All-Midwest Region selection...he was also a second team Baseball America All-American and second team Coaches Association All- American...was a member of 1998 Big Ten Championship team with the Fighting Illini...did not pitch in 1999 after undergoing Tommy John surgery to repair ligament damage in his right elbow...he was scouted by Scott Melvin...makes his off-season home in Walton, Ky....name is pronounced JUR-nell.
