MLB has hired former
ex-vice president Sandy
Alderson as a consultant to clean up the many problems
going on in the Dominican. Alderson began
with firing Ronaldo
Peralta, who was the leading executive in Latin America.
The Milwaukee Brewers are looking
to re-establish themselves in the Dominican. Brewers

The third-annual Major League
Baseball Tournament will take from March 28-April 1 at the Regensburg Academy in Europe. Players range in age from 15-19 and are
considered the best from six different European nations. Mister

Dominican pitcher Carlos Matias could receive
a higher bonus then he previously signed for. Matias originally signed
for $160,000 with the Boston Red Sox, but had his contract voided out by the MLB
after false identification. The New York Yankees and Arizona Diamondbacks
have picked up interest and some are saying he could get more than $500,000
now.
Cuban first baseman/outfielder
Jose Julio Ruiz had
offers from Boston Red Sox, Tampa Bay Rays, and Toronto Blue Jays pulled off the
table due to him being out of shape in workouts. Ruiz felt his agents were
not doing their job and switched a couple weeks ago. El

Cuban shortstop Yadel Mujica followed in Jose
Julio Ruiz's footsteps and
dropped Prestige Sports Agency. ESPN's Jorge Arangue also reports that
Mujica has been cleared
to sign with MLB teams.
Major League Baseball suspended
Dominican pitcher Michael
Feliz 50-games for failing a drug test. He is listed as
unsigned, but there had been a Feliz signed by the Oakland Athletics earlier
this year. Same person? Still unsure.

The Tampa Bay Rays signed Cuban first
baseman and outfielder Leslie
Anderson to a $3.75 million four-year deal. Anderson had been training
with Quintana Roo in the Triple-A Mexican League and was prepared to play the
2010 season with the team if he did not sign a major league
deal.
Cuban shortstop Adeiny Hechevarria passed
up the New York Yankees to sign a $10 million
four-year deal with the Toronto Blue Jays.

Alberto Castillo

a contract for the 2010 season with the Baltimore Orioles. Castillo
pitched for Mochis in the Mexican Pacific League and later moved onto to La
Guaira in the Venezuelan League this past winter.

Simontacchi
(former St.
Louis) signed a contract
for the 2010 season with the Lancaster Barnstormers of the indpendent Atlantic
League. Simontacchi pitched for Lara in the Venezuelan League and was
later drafted by Magallanes for the playoffs.
Luther Hackman
(former St.
Louis) signed
a contract for the 2010 season with Uniform 7-Eleven Lions in the Chinese
Professional Baseball League. Hackman began the 2009 season with
Tabasco in the
Triple-A Mexican League before leaving for the CPBL.
D'Angelo Jimenez
(former Memphis)
signed
a contract with Leones de Yucatan in the Triple-A Mexican League.
Jimenez played for Licey in the Dominican League and was later loaned to
Arecibo in the
Puerto Rican League during the winter.
Abraham Nunez (former St. Louis) signed a 2010
contract with the New Jersey Jackals of the independent Can-Am League.
Nunez played for Escogido in the Dominican League during the
winter.
Robinson Cancel
(former Memphis)
signed a 2010 contract with the Long Island Ducks in the independent Atlantic
League. Cancel played for Ponce in the Puerto Rican League over the
winter.
Juan Gonzalez (Former MLB Spring Invite)
drilled two home runs this weekend for Vega Baja in the Puerto Rican
Double-A League. Jose Leon (Former Arkansas) is playing for Toritos de Cayey in

Carlos Gonzalez

League:

innings. He allowed two hits, one earned runs, three walks, and struck out
five.
Panama Metro is currently 12-7 and
are sixth in the league. They have also qualified for postseason play with
the regular season wrapping up on March 15th.
No stat updates on Edgard Montiel (Former DSL), but
Managua is 11-13
and in fourth place in the Nicaraguan National Championship Group B
Division.
