inning.
Barranquilla wins the Colombian League
Championship taking the series 4-2 over Monteria.
Mark Shorey (Memphis-Barranquilla) was named
MVP of the Finals after he went 8-for-19 (.421) with four doubles, one home run,
and eight RBIs during the six games. In the sixth game Shorey had two hits
with one double, three RBIs, one run, and one walk.

signed with KIA Tigers. Rodriguez had pitched for Escogido in the
Dominican League.
Les Walrond (Former Memphis) and Kelvin Jimenez (Former St. Louis)
signed with Doosan. Walrond was loaned last season to the Yokohoma Bay
Stars of the Nippon Professional Baseball League by the Toronto Blue Jays.
Last winter Walrond pitched for Magallanes in the Venezuelan League.
Jimenez pitched for both Estrellas in the Dominican League and Margarita in the
Venezuelan League during the winter.

with a team for the 2010 season. Martinez said he is currently in negotiations
with the Philadelphia Phillies. Some speculate that he would get a deal
somewhat like Brad Penny signed with the Cardinals. He also commented on the
steroid hype around Mark
McGwire and Sammy Sosa: Primera

Josh Pressley (Former Springfield) will be one
of 21 players (scroll down) that will take part in the Professional Free
Agent Showcase at Al Lang Field in St.
Petersburg, FL between
February 2-4. Pressley played earlier in the winter with Estrellas in the
Dominican League before being released for lack of
performance.
