Cardinals Shelve 11 Minor Leaguers

Mark McCormick: Recovering from shoulder problems

Primarily due to injuries, the St. Louis Cardinals are 11 players short as they set their minor league opening day rosters.

As they set the opening day rosters of their four full-season farm clubs on Thursday, the St. Louis Cardinals placed ten minor leaguers on the disabled list (DL)and one on the temporary inactive list (TI).

The group includes four at Triple-A Memphis, three with Double-A Springfield and two each with A-Advanced Palm Beach and Class-A Quad Cities. This is in addition to the two on the DL at the major league level, pitcher Jaime Garcia and third baseman Troy Glaus.

Seven are pitchers, two are catchers and two are infielders. No outfielders are represented. Some players may be rehabbing with their club, while most others will get their work in down in Jupiter, Florida, where Extended Spring Training is underway.
