The St. Louis Cardinals announced that the team has optioned Jarrett Hoffpauir and Nick Stavinoha to its Triple-A Memphis roster after Saturday’s game.
Hoffpauir, a second baseman, performed well at the plate during Major League camp this spring. The 25-year-old hit .333/409/.389 in 18 at bats with three walks and no strikeouts.
An outfielder, Stavinoha (pictured right) hit .333/.400/.389 in 18 at bats during the Grapefruit League schedule. Like Hoffpauir, the 26-year-old did not strike out while drawing two bases on balls.
This moves leaves 44 players in the St. Louis Cardinas major league camp.
