Rarely is the job of selecting the top post from hundreds in an given week so easy as it is this time around. Yet, that doesn’t mean there weren’t plenty of good old hot stove action heating up all over the board.
On page two of the thread ”A.J. Burnett opts out of contract”, “PadsFS” looked at the top ten pitchers across MLB in terms of pitches thrown the last two seasons, with an eye toward projecting injuries and/or ineffectiveness.
Last week’s winner here, “philskill”, began a new thread to ponder some ”middle infield thoughts and discussion”. He looked at the available free agents at second base and shortstop and considered their potential offensive contribution to the 2009 Cardinals.
Our most consistently busy thread, especially during the trade deadline period and the off-season remains ”TRADES/RUMORS/TRADE IDEAS – CONTINUED”. Near the bottom of page 33, “thejager” offered a rebuilding scenario for the Cardinals for next season, built around the signing of free agent closer Trevor Hoffman.
The post that was head and shoulders among the others came from past winner “SoonerinNC”, who began a thread called ”Age and Prospect Potential”. There, a historical view of top MLB players’ ages when they became regulars in the bigs are used as comparison points to progress made to-date by various members of the Cardinals minor league system.
