Springfield Cardinals leadoff man and left-fielder Daryl Jones, had a big day at the plate Saturday, going 4-for-6 with a home run, three RBIs and three runs scored.

 

Games Played Saturday

 

Memphis Redbirds (Triple-A) - Winners 9-4 over Omaha

Blake Hawksworth picked up the win allowing one earned run in five innings of work. He walked three and struck out five.

Third baseman David Freese paced the offense going 3-for-5 with double and RBI and two runs scored to pace the offense.

Springfield Cardinals (Double-A) - Winners 16-8 over Arkansas

Leadoff man, left-fielder Daryl Jones and third baseman Brett Wallace, combined for seven hits, each connected for three-run homers, helping Brandon Dickson to win his third game since joining the Cardinals.

Palm Beach Cardinals (High-A) - Cancelled Rain

RECORD: 30-28, 4th Place, 5.0 GB

 

Quad Cities River Bandits (A) - Winners 4-0 over Wisconsin.

Quad Cities combined their victory with a loss by Cedar Rapids to pull to within three games of the Kernels in the race for the second-half wild card spot in the Midwest League-West.

Starter Richard Castillo dominated from the start, striking out a career-high eight and giving up just two hits over seven shutout frames.

Outfielder Tommy Pham and Domnit Bolivar both went deep to lead the offense.

Batavia Muckdogs (SS) - Winners 4-3 over Williamsport in 12

Reliever LaCurtis Mayes improved to 4-0 on the season for the Muckdogs with a big 4-3 win in 12 innings for Batavia.

First baseman Xavier Scruggs led the offense, going 2-for-5 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored.

Johnson City Cardinals (R) - Winners 5-4 over Princeton in 15

The Cardinals only managed six hits on the day in 15 innings, but still come out on top with a 5-4 victory. Go figure.
