St. Louis Draft Day One: A Look at the Rest

The St. Louis Cardinals drafted seven players on day one of the 2008 First Year Player Draft. The first three selections have been featured during the day here at the Birdhouse. Here is a look at picks from the third round to the sixth round.

The Cardinals continued to add to their depth of right-handed pitchers along with stockpiling middle infielders.   Third Round (91st selection) Niko Vasquez, SS, Durango HS Out of the same high school that produced Quad Cities River Bandit Tommy Pham. A highly touted prep shortstop, Vasquez fell on draft boards due to him being academically ineligible at the beginning of the season...
