Cards Post of the Week – April 27 thru May 3

Posted May 5, 2008

Recognizing the very best post of the past week from our message board community of thousands of St. Louis Cardinals fans the world over.

As we do each and every week here at stlcardinals.scout.com, we call out the best of the best - the “Post of the Week” from our Scout.com St. Louis Cardinals message board.

Here is the link to the Message Boards, of which there are several – for fantasy players, insider information for subscribers, general topics, non-Cardinals sports and more.

This article covers the week ending Saturday, May 3.

“thejager” took a look at what the Cardinals of 2009 might look like if the Dodgers’ shortstop Rafael Furcal was added in the thread: ”Rafael Furcal”.

To help answer the question, ”who should bat after Albert?”, “cardsfan914” offered an analysis of the productivity of the lineup positions in the Cardinals order comparing 2007 and 2008 to-date.

There are a number of interesting posts and theories concerning minor league starters pitch counts worth checking out in the thread entitled ”Springfield Starters To Eat Innings & Mortensen Interview”. Check it out and see if you agree.

An ongoing question is the extent in which the investments in the Cardinals minor league bear fruit. In the thread ”The Luhnow Effect” the discussion centered on an analysis of the take generated from the system in recent seasons. Partway down page one, “SydneyDave” dug into the results from 2000 through 2004.

The Post of the Week is the leadoff one from that same thread. “SoonerinNC” kicked off the discussion of farm director Jeff Luhnow’s impact on the Cardinals minor league system in a very detailed and informative post.

In recognition, “SoonerinNC” is our winner of “Post of the Week”. He collects a free four-week subscription extension to stlcardinals.scout.com and all the other great sites in the Scout.com network.

Next week, it can be you! So, keep posting!
