Cards Post of the Week – March 23 through 29

Posted Mar 31, 2008

Recognizing the very best posts of the past week from our message board community of thousands of St. Louis Cardinals fans the world over.

As we do each and every week here at stlcardinals.scout.com, we call out the best of the best - the “Post of the Week” from our Scout.com St. Louis Cardinals message board.

Here is the link to the Message Boards, of which there are several – for fantasy players, insider information for subscribers, general topics, non-Cardinals sports and more.

This article covers the week ending Saturday, March 29.

“bicyclemike” brought back an old discussion about the merits of the designated hitter and question of consistency across the game. Many others joined in the discussion, but of course, there was no consensus. ”Let's bring the Designated Hitter to the National League”.

Recent minor league re-signee Joe Rogers inspired “BeauHeart” to take a look back at knuckleball pitchers here: ”bunny hop knucklers”.

Though what followed on the five pages afterward was not all of his doing, “fpslackers” still deserves a bow for inspiring one of the most engaging threads on the site in some time, called ”Outfield Surplus”.

“CariocaCardinal” is back with another set of predictions for the 2008 season for the majors and many minor league players as well. Others offered thoughts and predictions of their own. ”Carioca's 50 predictions for 2008 (#31-#40)”.

Midway down page one of the thread called ”Trader Mo”, “haltz” provided a stark assessment of the accomplishments of the Cardinals new general manager to date.

Halfway down page one of a now-four page thread called ”Memphis this Year?”, “fewgoodcards” provided a view of the projected Memphis and Springfield rotations.

One of the pastimes over winter is to speculate how certain players might do in the upcoming season. One such example is the thread ”What do you guys expect out of Glaus this year?”. Halfway down page one, “SkinnyPimp” offered a detailed analysis of the new third baseman’s stats.

In recognition of that post, “SkinnyPimp” is our winner of “Post of the Week”. He collects a free four-week subscription extension to stlcardinals.scout.com and all the other great sites in the Scout.com network.

Next week, it can be you! So, keep posting!
