As we do each and every week here at stlcardinals.scout.com, we call out the best of the best - the “Post of the Week” from our Scout.com Cardinals message board.
Here is the link to the Message Boards, of which there are several – for fantasy players, insider information for subscribers, general topics, non-Cardinals sports and more.
This article covers the week ending Saturday, January 5.
There were rumors that the Matt Clement free agent signing might happen, then not. A new reader to the site, “nelseneer”, offered information via a family member of the pitcher that Clement would be joining the Cardinals. This was several days prior to the initial announcement and is discussed on page six of the ”Cardinals Express Interest in Matt Clement” thread.
On the next page in the same thread, “thejager” shared a formula devised to forecast the wins of the Cardinals team last year and this based on the years of the individual players.
”2008” is a thread begun by “BeauHeart” where an optimistic preview of the possibilities that exist for the Cardinals next season is offered for consideration and discussion.
In the same vein as above, “philskill” provided a very entertaining list of “what if’s” for the 2008 Cardinals season in the second post of the thread entitled ”Ballhype.com's "What if?" article. (Ankiel still a SP)” thread.
In various shapes and forms, the debates over the worthiness of the Cardinals first round draft pick last June, Pete Kozma, rage on. I guess they will for several seasons more. Recent concerns about the shortstop’s defense as measured by errors in his rookie year playing in the short-season New York-Penn League were eased by “GMan0311”, who provided a comparison to several other players at the position who initially had comparable errors yet became top MLB players later on. This is near the bottom of page two of the thread called ”2008 Cardinals Prospect #16 – Pete Kozma”.
For the above post, “GMan0311” is our latest winner of the “Post of the Week” award. In recognition, “GMan” collects a free four-week subscription to stlcardinals.scout.com and all the other great sites in the Scout.com network.
Next week, it can be you! So, keep posting!
