As we do each and every week here at stlcardinals.scout.com, we call out the best of the best - the “Post of the Week” from our Scout.com Cardinals message board.
Here is the link to the Message Boards, of which there are several – for fantasy players, insider information for subscribers, general topics, non-Cardinals sports and more.
This article covers the week ending Saturday, December 29.
Our writer Dustin Mattison penned an article last week showing why the Cardinals should consider keeping Anthony Reyes. Message board posts discussing that were enhanced by an entry from “haltz” on page one of the ”Mattison’s Reyes Article” thread. “MagnoliaCardsFan” also offered up some solid views on subsequent pages two and three.
”2009: The Year We Finally Land a Big One?” is a thread that began two weeks ago. On page three, “TraceyB” steps back to look at the Cardinals formula for winning baseball in recent years and the 2008 lineup in that context.
Another debate on the ceiling of 2007 first-round Pete Kozma broke out on page two of the ”realistic expectations…” thread. “easton714” backed up his views with supporting documentation, a great way to get one’s point across.
”Haren to the D-Backs” is a long-running thread, now having meandered through three pages of posts and having long lost its initial focus along the way. At the top of the third page, “SkinnyPimp” provides a reminder of the value of different types of stats to analyze player performance as well as makes an offer to help others.
A crazy trade idea started a thread called ”Dodgers-Cards trade works for everyone!”. Rather than simply dying a quick death, this hot stove discussion went for five pages. On pages two and four, “jmodene1” puts Dodgers centerfielder Juan Pierre’s background into perspective. “SkinnyPimp” looks at Pierre’ extra base hits history on page five.
For being called out twice this week, “SkinnyPimp” is our latest winner of the “Post of the Week” award. In recognition, “Skinny” collects a free four-week subscription to stlcardinals.scout.com and all the other great sites in the Scout.com network.
Next week, it can be you! So, keep posting!
