Arizona:
Boggs Continues to Impress
In
Tuesday’s Arizona Fall League action, Mark Hamilton was the only St. Louis Cardinals position player to see any action. Hamilton was
1-for-3 and drew a walk. He is now
hitting .222.
Mitchell Boggs made his second start for the Mesa Solar Sox. Boggs was not as economical as the last
time out but was just as productive.
Boggs pitched three more scoreless innings while allowing two hits, two
walks, and striking out two.
Reliever Kyle McClellan was roughed up for two runs on three hits and two
walks in one inning of work.
On
Monday, Hamilton was
the only Cardinal farmhand to appear in the action. Hamilton got
his first hit, a two-run pinch hit single.
Hawaii:
Michael Cooper Tries to Get Back On Track
In the
Hawaii Winter League, Michael Cooper picked up his first victory with a
scoreless outing after getting roughed up in his last two appearances. On Tuesday, Cooper pitched one and
two-thirds scoreless innings but did give up two hits and four walks. The 23-year old did retire two hitters
by strikeout.
Cooper
had not appeared since October 11, when the right-hander gave up three runs on
four hits and two bases on balls.
Encouraging in the outing is that Cooper did strike out six.
In
four outings, Cooper is 1-0 with an 11.05 ERA in 7.1 innings. On the positive side, he does have 11
strikeouts.
Marco Gonzalez still has only made one appearance, pitching one and two-thirds
scoreless innings.
