Last night's game was game one in a best-of-five series. The Cards will play game two in San Antonio on Wednesday night, then return to Hammons Field this Friday night for game three at Hammons Field.
The Springfield Cardinals and San Antonio Missions both swept their respective opponents in the opening round of the Texas League Playoffs.
Springfield took two straight at home before finishing off Tulsa on the road. San Antonio won a pair in Frisco, before coming home to blank the RoughRiders in the seriesclincher.
The Cards are currently enjoying their first trip to the postseason and are looking for their first league title in history. The San Antonio Mission won back-to-back Texas League Championships in 2002 and 2003, but haven't been to the finals since. Last year, the Corpus Christi Hooks won the Texas League Championship Series, their first title in just their second year of existence. The Hooks defeated the Wichita Wranglers three games to one.
