Three Palm Beach Cards FSL All-Stars Again

Clockwise from UL: Ottavino, Gregerson, Craig

Starting pitcher Adam Ottavino, closer Luke Gregerson and third baseman Allen Craig are 2007 Florida State League Post-Season All-Stars

The 2007 Palm Beach Cardinals are well-represented on the Florida State League's 18-man 2007 Postseason All-Star Team. Of the three players selected, two are pitchers who remain with the team for the final week of the regular season while their third baseman has been called up to the Double-A Springfield Cardinals.

Right-handed starting pitcher Adam Ottavino, with a 12-7 record and 3.07 ERA, has fanned 122 batters in 138 innings while walking 60. Opposing batters have hit just .238 against the organization's first-round pick in 2006, still just 21 years of age.

Closer Luke Gregerson, 23, has converted 27 of 31 save opportunities for Palm Beach this season. The righty, taken in the 28th round of the 2006 draft, has struck out 67 batters in 62 innings while walking 20.

Opposing batters have hit just .194 against the extreme ground ball specialist and his ERA is 2.03. Gregerson's ground out to fly out ratio is an out-of-this-world 2.82:1 and he has not allowed a home run during the entire season.

Third baseman Allen Craig, one of the hottest players in the entire system all season long, received the honor after hitting .312 with 21 home runs and 77 RBI with Palm Beach. He was called up to Springfield on Tuesday.

In 112 games with Palm Beach this season, Craig ranked among the FSL leaders in batting average (third), home runs (third) and RBIs (fourth). The 23-year-old, taken by the Cardinals in the eighth round of the 2006 draft, put up those lefty totals despite having missed three weeks of action in July due to lower back problems.

All three players are repeat All-Stars, previously having been selected to play in the FSL All-Star Game, held on June 16. In fact, Craig was named "Top Star" in that contest.
