Five Palm Beach Cards Are 2007 FSL All-Stars

Pitchers Adam Ottavino, Tyler Norrick and Luke Gregerson, plus infielders Allen Craig and Mark Hamilton have been named 2007 Florida State League All-Stars.

The Palm Beach Cardinals share the lead for the most players, five, named to the 2007 Eastern Division Florida State League All-Star Team. Starting pitchers Adam Ottavino and Tyler Norrick along with reliever Luke Gregerson were selected, along with infielders Allen Craig and Mark Hamilton. (The latter is listed at designated hitter.)

The 2007 FSL All-Star Game will be held Saturday, June 16 at Jackie Robinson Ballpark in Daytona Beach, Florida, the home of the Daytona Cubs.

Ottavino, 21, was the Cardinals first-round selection in the 2006 draft. The 6-foot-5 righthander is has a 3-4 record and a 3.31 ERA in 11 starts for the Cards. He fanned 56 and walked 24 in 49 innings this season.



Norrick, 23, was the Cards’ sixth-round pick in last year’s draft. The lefty is 5-3 with a 2.89 ERA in 11 starts for Palm Beach. He struck out 44 batters in 65.1 innings while walking 29 and is holding opposing hitters to a collective .208 average.

Gregerson, 23, wasn’t selected until the 28th round of the 2006 draft, but has excelled in the closer’s role this season. The 6-foot-3, 200 pound righthander has collected 11 saves and a 1.23 ERA, fanning 36 and walking only nine in 29.1 innings. Opposing hitters are batting just .111 against Gregerson.

Craig, 22, joined the organization in the eighth round of the 2006 draft. He has played both first and third base this season and has demonstrated impressive results with the bat. His .318 batting average and 36 RBI are both fourth-best in the league and his ten home runs are tied for third in the FSL.

Hamilton, 22, was a supplemental second round pick in last June’s draft from Tulane University. The slugging first baseman’s 34 RBIs are tied for sixth-best in the league.
