The player of the day? Springfield Cardinals' infielder, Juan Richardson hit a game-ending grand slam and had 5 RBIs for the day to help lead the St. Louis Cardinals Double-A affiliate to a 11-7 win.

NOTE: The Baby Birds faced the Marlins in all five games Saturday.

 

Memphis lost 8-3

From the mound;

Chris Narveson 3.2 IP, 8 hits, 4 ER, 1 BB, 4 K’s

Chris Russ two scoreless IP

From the batters box;

Brendan Ryan 2 hits and a SB

Ryan Ludwick two-run triple

Travis Hanson, Shane Robinson, Michel Hernandez 2 hits each

 

Springfield 11-7 winner

From the mound;

Eric Haberer 4 scoreless IP, 2 hits, 2 K’s

Jason Motte 2 IP, no hits, no runs, 1 BB, 1 K (avg. 93, touched 95)

From the batter’s box;

Juan Richardson hit game-ending grand slam and had 5 RBIs for the day

Juan Lucena had three hits

Amaury Cazana had two hits, including a HR and had 3 RBIs

Jarrett Hoffpauir and Bryan Anderson had two hits

 

Palm Beach 5-4 winner

From the mound;

Donnie Smith 2 IP, 2 hits, 1 run

Kyle Sadlowksi had 2 scoreless IP

From the batter’s box;

Daniel Nelson had two hits

Jose Martinez also with two hits and an RBI

Mark Hamilton RBI double in his only AB

Chris Grossman (catcher) gunned down a runner in a 1st and 3rd potential double steal situation and drove in the game-tying run with a sac fly. He walked in his other PA.

 

Quad Cities 5-4 loser

From the mound;

Logan Collier pitched 1.1 scoreless, and Matt Lane had two scoreless innings

Ken Maiques pitched 2 innings, allowing 2 hits and an unearned run

From the batter’s box;

Mark Shorey was 2-for-3 and had two walks

Brandon Buckman had a pair of hits

Luke Gorsett had just one double to show for three hard hit balls – hit into tough luck today

 

Extended Spring 9-7 loser

From the mound;

Ryan Hodinka two scoreless and hitless innings, walked a pair and fanned three

Brandon Garner (3 runs in 2 IP) and Matt Michael (6 runs in 1.1 IP) had rough days

From the batter's box;

Will Groff 3-for-4 with a double and SB#6 (tops in our camp)

Jaime Landin 2-for-4

Wil Pujols 1-for-2 with a double – hitting .286 for the spring
