In my recent reading, I have put aside some St. Louis Cardinals-related links in case you haven’t seen them.
For those who dislike Walt Jocketty, look at these next two examples and reconsider.

If only the Marlins had locked up Miguel Cabrera like the Cards did with Albert Pujols…

(Note Cabrera and A.J. Burnett share an agent. Darek Braunecker probably didn’t get a Christmas card from Walt Jocketty after jobbing him last winter…)
Slam on Cards TV Broadcasters
While I was at fishstripes, I ran into this shot, seemingly coming out of the blue. Merry Christmas, Dan and Al…

Ex-Cards Alberto Castillo, K-Rob (and Super Joe) Join Red Sox
We had noted Joe McEwing’s signing earlier, but Kerry Robinson and Alberto Castillo were news to me. Good for them and good for us they are there…

Sammy Sosa Working Out
In this world, who would give Slammin’ Sammy another chance?

Jeff Conine trade to the Reds
Why would Cincinnati give up two decent prospects for a 40-year old who has to be on his last professional breaths to be their fifth outfielder? To top if off, they dropped a decent second base prospect in Brendan Harris to make room. Maybe Griffey’s yearly injury coming early spooked general manager Wayne Krivsky?
Philly could move Conine since they just signed Jayson Werth, a guy the Cardinals wanted.

Four Years for Suppan
It certainly looks like the price for Jeff Suppan is going to go through the roof, but we will likely have to wait until Barry Zito signs. Suppan is positioning himself as the very expensive consolation prize.
I doubt the Brewers are doing anything but raising the ante for everyone else, but maybe if they throw in one of those cool cheese-head hats…

Everyone is still after him…except Arizona…

Ponson Talking to Twins
But why are they talking back? I thought Twins general manager Terry Ryan was smarter than that.

Einar Diaz to Pittsburgh
Somehow, I don’t think this move is going to be enough to deliver Suppan, too!

Now, that is a surprise. Rose using current events to draw attention to himself.

Starter Number Seven for Yanks - Roger Clemens?
You’d think this would help free up Carl Pavano for trade, though the Rocket will probably decide to take the spring off again. Even without him, the Yankees have six Major League starters under contract.

Cards Offered Pettitte $45 Million?
The New York Times says the Cardinals offered more than the Yankees, who signed the lefty to return to the Big Apple. Seems very odd no one else was aware of this interest and huge offer reportedly made.

Baylor Looking for Work
The former Cardinals batting coach Don Baylor is apparently cancer-free and looking to get back into the game. Good for him on both fronts!

One session with Cubs pitching coach Larry Rothschild has apparently fixed Jason Marquis’ mechanics and repaired his psyche damaged by the Cardinals. OK…
