After a full day of consultation with hip arthroscopy specialists, Jason Isringhausen has decided to undergo arthroscopic left hip surgery Thursday, September 21. The operation will be performed by Dr. J. Thomas Byrd in Nashville.
Isringhausen, who has not pitched since September 6 at Washington, will begin therapy within
a few days after the surgery, but there is no timetable for his return, with there being significant concern that he may not be ready to start the season on time next year.

In his last 10 appearances this season, dating back to August 17, leading up to the decision to have surgery, Izzy was 1-3 with a 6.23 ERA and four saves.
