Post of the Week – July 2 through July 8

Recognizing the very best post of the week from our message board community of thousands of Cardinals fans the world over. The winner of this recognition receives a free four-week subscription to and all the other fine sites in the network.

With the recent losing skid, some members of the Cardinal Nation on our Cardinals message board grown increasingly negative and edgy. But, that doesn't mean there isn't a lot of quality content being posted, too. As always, this article calls out the best of the best - our "Post of the Week".

In that vein, LeftyGolden started a thread called "My suggestions". While I don't agree with all of Lefty's six ideas to improve the Cardinals, that isn't the point. What set this post apart was that constructive and practical suggestions were offered, in contrast to the pointless whining and complaining emanating from some others.

IlliniNation89 went back and did a telling statistical comparison between the 2006 Cardinals and the last National League World Champion, the 2003 Florida Marlins in the thread called "2006 Cardinals/2003 Marlins".

Posting on an existing a thread called "Midseason Minor league review", reader bccran reviewed the Cardinals top three draft picks from recent years, 2000 through 2006.

The top post this week is from reader 1964Cards, who joined an existing thread called "Marquis' delivery". 1964Cards looked beyond the base numbers and put Jason Marquis' oft-maligned 2006 performance in a different light. Several other posters commented as to the value of the perspective offered.

As a result, I am pleased to announce that 1964Cards is our weekly winner for July 2 through July 8.

Thank you for your many contributions to our community, 1964Cards and keep making these informative posts. And as always, congratulations to all of last week's honorable mentions.

In recognition, 1964Cards wins a free four-week subscription to and all the other great sites in the network.

Next week, it can be you! So, keep posting!
